Atherstone Estate is a new community located in Melton, 50km’s from Melbourne’s CBD.
GCM mobilised a Wirtgen 2500 Surface Miner (2500SM) to undertake trenching work to allow the installation of 2 x 1350mm diameter sewer’s to be connected to existing infrastructure.

Ground conditions in these areas are renowned for being difficult to work in and are made up of Basalt shelves and clay soils with basalt floaters throughout the site. Due to the close proximity of housing (within 50 metres) a solution was looked for which would minimise disruption on these residents.

GCM set upon undertaking these works as quickly and safely as possible with a big intent on minimising disruption to residents. We were proud to be able to deliver the full trench in under 1 week which resulted in a massive program win for the client. An added bonus of utilising a surface miner for these works was the milled material produced by the 2500SM was suitable to be used on site as fill.
